BIOGRAPHY
Gabrielle Schutz (She/They) is an interdisciplinary Theatre artist based in New York City, specializing in original contemporary performance and innovative reimaginings of classical material. Their work often engages dance, theatre, and emergent media to create visually rich and fully embodied productions. Their Direction/Choreography of new work(s) has been presented by Long Island University-Post (Brookville, NY), Dixon Place (NYC, NY), Object Movement Festival (NYC, NY), Pace University (NYC, NY), TheatreLab NYC (NYC, NY), The Hudson River Museum (Yonkers, NY), Seattle International Dance Festival (Seattle, WA), Pony World Theatre (Seattle, WA), and The Northwest New Work Festival (Seattle, WA), among others.
As a performer she has had the great fortune to be an original devising cast member in world-premier workshops of new works by Tom Lee (Shank's Mare), MetaPhysEd Theatre (Wake/Sing), and Sibyl Kempson (Lets Us All Now Praise Susan Sontag). Her original solo performances have been presented by TheatreLab NYC (The Audit), Dixon Place (BEASTS), and Colorado Mesa University (BEASTS).
Schutz is also an active educator, who has taught as Adjunct Faculty at Pace University (New York, NY), and Sarah Lawrence College (Bronxville, NY). Additional teaching credits as a Guest Artist, and instructor, include Long Island University-Post (Brookville, NY), AMDA: Summer Conservatory (New York, NY), the United Nations International School (New York, NY), and Colorado Mesa University (Grand Junction, CO).
